Schooling the Public about Indiana Legislators’ Side Hustle

It is no secret that education tax dollars have long been a pot of gold for financial opportunists, and our supermajority in the Indiana legislature is only too happy to help. If the proposed budget passes the senate as it did the house and is signed by the governor, online virtual schools will receive a windfall of over $10 million.  Their budget will increase 15-20% per pupil; our brick-and-mortar schools, 5%. Indiana is badly gerrymandered as a result of outside money funding races in 2011 after the ruling in Citizens United. Hoosiers have been captive to lopsided government and voting maps ever since.
