WHAT IS THE CITIZENS UNITED DECISION?
In 2010 the Supreme Court of the United States overturned a century of campaign finance regulations as an unconstitutional restriction of free speech.
WHY DOES IT NEED TO BE REVERSED?
Because it enabled money to dominate the public discourse about ENVIRONMENT, EDUCATION, LABOR, MEDIA, VOTING, POLITICS, HEALTH CARE, and GOVERNMENT. A 28th constitutional amendment is the best way to permanently reverse this decision.
AREN’T CORPORATIONS PEOPLE?
No. They are legal entities chartered by the state to do a specific business, period. When a giant corporation pours millions into a political campaign, one man one vote becomes one dollar one vote. And it hides its hand by masking its donation as “dark money.”
