The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers began a strike against Boeing on September 13, 2024 after the company refused to meet the workers demands for a fair and equitable contract.
Boeing is continuing a long tradition of anti labor activity among corporations that began in the early 1980’s under the Reagan administration. The 2010 Supreme Court Citizens United decision has allowed corporations to make unlimited amounts of campaign contributions to politicians at both the state and federal level allowing them to pass legislation that weakens unions and deprives their members from receiving fair wages, benefits and working conditions. The determination of the machinists union’s members has finally resulted in Boeing offering a contract with significant pay raises which was approved by membership thus ending the strike.
