While Support is Strong, Unions Still Represent Only 6% of Workforce

Organized labor enjoyed a successful year in 2023 with major victories for auto workers, screen actors and Teamsters. These victories occurred despite years of fierce opposition from conservative groups and big business. One such conservative group is Donors Trust known as the dark money ATM of the right. It allows wealthy contributors who want to donate millions to right wing causes to do so anonymously. An example of their opposition to organized labor was their funding of Wisconsin’s 2011 assault on collective bargaining rights. Some of Donors Trust’s biggest contributors are the Koch Brothers, the DeVoses and the Bradleys. All of this has been made possible by the 2010 Supreme Court’s Citizens United Decision.
