Thanks to the Citizens United decision, health insurance and pharmaceutical companies have been able to spend unlimited amounts of money to lobby against affordable health care. The result has been millions of Americans without health insurance. In the case of black women, this lack of health insurance means no access to prenatal and cardiovascular care. Prenatal care in the first trimester is essential and critical to birth outcomes.
